Pocket Gamepad Privacy Policy
Effective date: 12 October 2026
Pocket Gamepad (随身手柄) turns a Mac keyboard or a phone into a game controller. It is made by an independent developer, 郭立 (Guo Li / leeguoo). This policy describes what the app does with your data.
What we collect
Nothing personal. Pocket Gamepad has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads and no tracking SDKs. The app sends no data to the developer’s servers — there are none for it.
Network use is local only
- Your console — The app connects over your local network (LAN) to your own game console on TCP port 6000 (sys-botbase).
- A local page on the Mac — The Mac app serves a local web page and WebSocket (ports 8787 and 8788) so phones on the same Wi-Fi can act as controllers. It is reachable only on your local network.
- Finding the Mac — The iPhone app can find your Mac on the local network using Bonjour.
- Input stays home — Controller input goes only to your own console and never leaves your local network.
What stays on your device
- Settings — The console IP address, key bindings and preferences are stored locally on the device (UserDefaults) and never uploaded.
- Trial start date — Kept in the device Keychain so the 7-day trial can be counted.
Accessibility permission (macOS)
On the Mac, the Accessibility permission is used only to read keyboard keys while keyboard capture is on, so they can be turned into controller input. Keystrokes are not stored, and they are not transmitted anywhere except as controller button state sent to your own console on the local network.
Purchases
- App Store editions (iPhone, Mac App Store) — Purchases use Apple’s In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; the developer receives no payment details.
- Direct-download Mac edition — Payment and license keys are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. When you activate or validate a license, the app sends the license key, the purchase email you enter, and an instance name (for example “Mac-xxxxxxxx”) to Lemon Squeezy’s license API (api.lemonsqueezy.com). Lemon Squeezy handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Children
Pocket Gamepad is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children.
