Firefox cache on Mac (~/Library/Caches/Firefox): safe to delete?
Safe to deleteRegenerated automatically; Thermo deletes it outright.
Quit first: firefox
Where it is
~/Library/Caches/Firefox
What it is
Firefox separates cached web content from your profile. The profile, with bookmarks, history, passwords and add-ons, lives in Application Support, while each profile's disk cache sits under ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles.
Why it gets so big
Firefox manages its cache size automatically, and the cache fills with images, scripts and media as you browse. Every profile gets a cache of its own.
Is it safe to delete?
Yes. Deleting it doesn't touch anything in your profile; pages just load a little slower until the cache refills. Quit Firefox first so it isn't holding the cache files open.
Tip
Typing about:cache in the address bar shows how big the disk cache is and where it's stored.
