Open Jira and Confluence links in your work browser on Mac

Why give it its own rule

Jira tickets and Confluence pages live on your company's atlassian.net site, which usually sits behind single sign-on through Okta, Azure AD or Google Workspace. When a ticket link opens in a browser without that SSO session, you get a login loop or a 'you don't have access' page instead of the ticket.

How to set it up

  1. Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
  2. In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
  3. From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.

Hosts to add

  • your-company.atlassian.net

Split by path

  • your-company.atlassian.net/wiki

Add a rule for your-company.atlassian.net that opens the browser or profile where your company SSO is signed in; that one host covers both Jira and Confluence. If you want Confluence pages somewhere else, for example a browser you keep for reading, add a path rule for your-company.atlassian.net/wiki and point it there.

Check that it works

Open a Jira issue (your-company.atlassian.net/browse/ABC-123) and a Confluence page under /wiki, and confirm each opens in the browser you chose with your work account in the profile menu rather than a login screen.
