Open Google Docs links in the right Chrome profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
When several Google accounts share one browser, Docs opens files with whichever account is the default, and a document shared with your work address shows 'You need access'. Moving the work account into its own Chrome profile fixes this, but only if Docs and Drive links actually open in that profile.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
docs.google.comdrive.google.com
Add rules for docs.google.com and drive.google.com that open the Chrome profile (or Edge, Brave, Vivaldi or Chromium profile) signed in to your work Google account. Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms all live on docs.google.com, so these two hosts cover nearly every shared file. If you mostly use Google for personal files, point both hosts at your personal profile instead.
Check that it works
Open a document shared with your work address and confirm it opens without an access request and the account button in the top-right shows your work email; then open a non-Google link and confirm it does not go to that profile.
