Open Outlook web links in your work browser profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
Outlook on the web has two addresses: outlook.office.com for work Microsoft 365 mail and outlook.live.com for Outlook.com, Hotmail and other personal accounts. A shared calendar or message link opened in a browser signed in to the other kind of account sends you to a Microsoft sign-in page, sometimes in a redirect loop.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
outlook.office.comoutlook.live.com
Add a rule for outlook.office.com that opens the Edge, Chrome or other Chromium profile signed in to your work account, and one for outlook.live.com that opens your personal browser. Because the hosts differ, no path rule is needed.
Check that it works
Open a shared calendar link on outlook.office.com and confirm your work mailbox loads without a sign-in prompt; then open outlook.live.com and confirm your personal browser and account appear.
