Open SharePoint and OneDrive links in your work profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
Files shared from SharePoint or OneDrive for work arrive as long your-company.sharepoint.com or your-company-my.sharepoint.com links. If the browser that opens them is signed in to another tenant or a personal Microsoft account, you hit 'Access denied' or a request-access form.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
your-company.sharepoint.comyour-company-my.sharepoint.com
Add rules for your-company.sharepoint.com (team sites) and your-company-my.sharepoint.com (everyone's OneDrive) that open the Edge or Chrome profile signed in to your work Microsoft 365 account. If you also work in a client's tenant, add that tenant's sharepoint.com hosts as rules for a separate profile.
Check that it works
Open a file shared from a colleague's OneDrive (your-company-my.sharepoint.com) and confirm it opens in the work profile without asking for access; then open a link to another tenant's site and confirm it goes elsewhere.
