Claude desktop vm_bundles taking up space: can you delete it?
Quit first: Claude
Where it is
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/vm_bundles~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code-vm
What it is
Recent versions of the Claude desktop app can run code inside an isolated virtual machine on your Mac instead of directly on your system. The VM bundle and its disk image live in Claude's Application Support folder, in vm_bundles and claude-code-vm.
Why it gets so big
A VM image bundles an entire operating system plus the tools that run inside it, which makes it one of the largest things the app keeps on disk.
Is it safe to delete?
Fairly safe, but worth a second look. The app downloads the VM again the next time you use its code features, so expect a wait and a large download, and anything you left inside the sandbox itself won't come back. If you use these features every day, deleting it just trades disk space for bandwidth. Quit Claude before removing it.

Run in Terminal. Deleting cannot be undone, so check the paths first.
