Open ChatGPT links in a specific browser profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
Plenty of people have a personal ChatGPT account and a separate Team or Enterprise account from work, each with its own chat history. Shared conversation links and GPT links open in whichever account is signed in, so a work chat can end up in your personal history.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
chatgpt.com
Add a rule for chatgpt.com that opens the profile signed in to the ChatGPT account you want by default. If you switch between personal and work accounts depending on the task, leave chatgpt.com without a rule; ChooseBrowser learns which browser you pick for the site and puts it first in the picker.
Check that it works
Open a shared chatgpt.com conversation link and confirm the sidebar shows the expected account and workspace name; then open a link to another site and confirm it does not go to that profile.
